DANIEL BARRETO, Volta Redonda, RJ, 1981
The main interest of Daniel Barreto, born in 1981 in Volta Redonda, is painting. As a graphic designer, he founded the collective Merah Studio in Rio de Janeiro, where he currently resides.
Barreto's work addresses classic themes such as still lifes, portraits, and landscapes, challenging the relationship between figurative and abstract art, reconstructing memories, and forming images through the layering of distinct temporalities.
His collection is present at the National Museum of Fine Arts (RJ) and he has participated in famous exhibitions and art festivals such as Arte Core 2018, ArtRio 2022, SP-Arte 2023, and Rotas Brasileiras (SP-Arte).
He held his first solo exhibition at Galeria Asfalto in 2022 and participated in the artistic residency 'Chão' in São Luís/Maranhão in 2023.
In 2024, he held his first solo exhibition at Projeto Vênus/São Paulo and his first institutional exhibition in Rio de Janeiro, Centro Cultural dos Correios.
